Is There A Better Alternative To Microsoft Word?

by admin on February 4, 2011

microsoft wordAmong a considerable variety of word processors, Microsoft Word is probably the most widely used software in the world. However, we have rounded up some other alternatives that you might want to try for some change.

OpenOffice.org is just one delicate instance. It is an open source and free productivity suite containing word processor, spreadsheet, drawing program, presentation manager and database components etc. It is also compatible with other word processors and you can also download it for Windows, Solaris, GNU/Linux and Mac operating systems.

Some word processors are designed to meet special needs. If you are after a desktop publishing program, you should definitely consider PagePlus Starter Edition. Though it is free, some features require a commercial upgrade (around $100).

Scrivener is another one most suitable to authors. It is a neat Macintosh application also available for Windows in free beta versions yet. The final release will probably cost $40. Another superb example of similar authorial program is WriteItNow available for $60. It has somewhat cluttered interface but is very efficient for novel writing.

One should not neglect the Writer’s Blocks. It is an amazing program that’ll divide your text into blocks and then you can arrange them in columns. A complete-feature download is available for 15-days trial. Moving to lighter interface, Dark Room is as simple as only you and your words. For just writing purposes, this would be your best bet.
