Disable Unnecessary Startup Programs.

One of the reason why computer take long time to load is because of the amount of unecessary program Windows has to load when it’s starting, causing all these programs to compete for slice of your CPU speed.

Your goal is to eliminate the number of  unnecessary Startup items and experience faster boot up time.

Using this method alone should speed up your Windows startup by 20%.

Programs such as RealPlayer, instant messengers, Skype, Quicktime, itunes are some of the common ones you’ll find in the startup item. Many of these programs gets loaded silently in the background for a reason.  Loading the program helps increase the program launch speed and some progressively call back to check for updates.

Go down the list and see if there’s any item you are sure they are not going to be require. You can turn if off, restart your computer and see if it everything continues to work. Otherwise, you can still go back and re-enable the item in the Startup Item list.

Here’s what you have to do:

1. Click on the START button

2. Select RUN

3. Type “msconfig“, without the double quotes and hit Enter key.

4.  It will bring up the System Configuration Utility

5. Click on the Services tab

6.  Select Hide All Microsoft Services.

7. All you have to do is uncheck those programs that are no use or the the ones that you are unfamiliar with. (don’t worry, if something gone amiss, you can always come back and revert your settings)

8. Next, select the Startup tab and repeat the same.

9. When you’ve finished, click Apply and you’ll be prompted to restart your computer.

10. After computer has restarted, a dialogue box will be shown . Make sure that you tick the option for not showing the dialogue box everytime you start up Windows.

If you’re still frustrated that your computer are running too slow then I suggest you might want to check out Registry Easy software. With Registry Easy, you can safely clean, repair and speed up your computer with just a few simple clicks.
